Job Title:          Service Centre Manager (Transport/ Depot Manager)

Location:          Woolwich

Salary:              £30,000- £35,000 DOE (PLUS Bonus & Commission)

Duration:          Permanent Role

My client, the UK leader in their field are looking for a proficient Depot Manager/ Service Centre Manager to run their Woolwich operation, responsible for approximately 20 routes covering the North, South & East of London, as well as East Sussex, Kent & Essex

The Woolwich depot is responsible for approximately 20% of the whole company’s business, so it is important that only experienced candidates apply for this role. There are over a dozen locations across the UK.

Key Objectives:

  • Managing team of approximately 30 employees out of the Woolwich main depot, including transport supervisors, drivers, engineers plus warehouse staff
  • Liaising with customer services to provide ETA’s for deliveries within the SLA set by the company
  • Liaising with the sales team to ensure new customers have their first delivery within the agreed time frames
  • To ensure the vehicles are loaded and booked out each morning
  • To ensure the vehicles are booked back in each afternoon, that the drivers have been debriefed and all paper work reconciled. Any outstanding work to be rescheduled for the next day.
  • To ensure branch KPI’s and sales targets are met on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Raising purchase order numbers and liaising with 3rd party suppliers
  • Completing the monthly payroll for employees, and calculating commissions
  • Daily stock checks. Ordering new products via the Main Distribution Centre and external suppliers as and when needed
  • Dealing with any customer  complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • To make route changes as and when necessary to ensure that the routes are running to their full potential.
  • To ensure that the workloads for the drivers are manageable and redeploy staff as and when needed
  • Responding to emails, and messages via the internal system in a timely manner
  • To anticipate customer needs prior to deliveries being made
  • To ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to at all times in line with company and government legislation.
  • Compiling monthly reports to send to HQ
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure the continual growth of the business
  • Recruitment of staff and any disciplinaries/ coaching where appropriate.
  • To ensure all expenditure is kept within the agreed budgets.

It is essential that all applicants have strong management experience with excellent customer service and problem resolving skills. Applicants must also be forward thinking and proactive. It is also essential that applicants come from a transport background, ideally within the multi drop sector.

Hours of work- Monday- Friday only, times vary but could be any time between 6am and 8pm.

Ideally applicants will live within 25 miles of Woolwich, however candidates from further afield, as long as it is a commutable distance will be considered. Applicants that will need to relocate will be automatically rejected

In addition to the salary, a company phone and laptop will be provided, as well as BUPA healthcare, company pension and the opportunity to earn quarterly and annual bonus based on the branch/ company performance.
